Recent projects we’ve completed

  • A large multi-million pound transformation, re-platform and data migration project to deliver a new worldwide e-commerce platform deployed on Microsoft Azure. Working with a number of offshore/onshore teams my responsibilities included leading/producing HLD and LLD architecture designs, conducting technical workshops, design authority, producing security standards and providing technical expertise on implementation, configuration, functional and performance testing. The environment also had to comply with strict PCI-DSS compliance standards.
  • Designed and Implemented a new disaster recovery solution based on Microsoft Azure Site Recovery services
  • Helped a large enterprise migrate 25,000 users from Microsoft Exchange 2010 to Google Mail and then decommission Exchange
  • Implemented a Windows 2012 R2 Hyper-V Replica disaster recovery solution between offices in the UK and East Asia
  • Migration from Microsoft SCCM 2007 to SCCM 2012 for a multisite environment containing 22,000 devices
  • Planned and performed multiple Active Directory upgrades utilizing multiple domain controllers and sites originally from to Windows 2000 AD and then upgrades up to Windows 2012 including all Group policy management reviews and modifications. Also provide normal BAU Active Directory daily administration, support and changes as required.
  • Designed and implemented VDI/EUC infrastructure using Citrix XenDesktop/Provisioning Services on a virtual environment to deliver 1200+ Windows 7 and Office desktops and installed Citrix Access Gateway to provide users with secure remote access to desktops and applications worldwide. This also included the design and build of core gold images to be used and multiple Citrix XenApp farm upgrades from 4.x to 5.x to 6.x
  • Implemented and provided support for VMware ESX/vSphere and vCentre in a multi-site environment virtualising 500+ Wintel servers using converter to P2V and V2V and then managed the BAU activities
  • Have performed and project-led multiple VMware ESX/vSphere/vCentre upgrades/migrations from 3.x to 4.x and also 4.x to 5.x environments utilizing DRS, HA, vMotion, storage vMotion, update manager,DPM and then managed the BAU admin activities.
  • Planned and conducted multiple email migrations firstly from Novell Groupwise to Exchange 2000, then Exchange 2000 to 2007 and then finally Exchange 2007 to 2010 for circa 2000+ mailboxes. This also included BAU administration, support, changes and performance monitoring/tuning on all versions of Exchange
  • Implemented a new Cisco LAN/WAN and Checkpoint Firewall infrastructure in 10 offices worldwide including UK, Belgium, China, Hong Kong, Kualar Lumpar, Singapore and Dubai to enable delivering of mission-critical IT / IS to support a customers 140,000 members and 9,000 students, also performed BAU administration and support
  • Successfully designed and implemented Citrix Sharefile which enhanced work collaboration, secure and audited data sharing between clients, members and staff.
  • Designed/Implemented/Supported an updated Cisco core IP LAN/WAN & Checkpoint firewall Infrastructure into a clients HQ which included provision for QOS and multiple VLAN’s which also included Internet/WAN link migrations between Tier 1 providers to enable improved overall network efficiency and cost savings.  Also performed BAU administration and support
  • Due to migrating desktops from Windows XP to Windows 7 we also had to upgrade/convert and deliver 350+ applications using a combined XenApp and App-V deployment strategy to clients
  • Implemented and Supported a hybrid cloud solution using Windows Azure with Sharepoint 2013 services for a new document management system which was built with Windows 2012 and SQL 2012 virtual servers
  • Designed and performed a SAN migration between EMC Clariion and Dell Compellant arrays to increase IOPS, Capacity and reduce latency
  • Implemented SCCM 2007 into a multisite which provided a solution for Software Distribution, Operating system deployment, Patch Management, Inventory Management and Remote Control. This also included the build of core gold images for rollouts to physical laptops/desktop which improved overall TCO
  • Implemented a centralized monitoring solution, using Microsoft SCOM which provided real time performance stats and proactive maintenance which improved server/apps availability
  • Supported the infrastructure for a new eCommerce website, which included working with hosting partners to implement a 5 physical vSphere 5.x host cluster which was running 16 virtual Windows 2008 and SQL 2008 servers and storage was held on a Dell Equalogic SAN
  • Implemented Symantec Enterprise Vault Email Archive integration for Exchange which included setup of retention and archive policies and including the migration of user PST files.  Also performed BAU administration and support
  • Implemented a solution that replaced an ageing LTO 1 & 3 tape library backup with a multisite Netbackup 7.x utilizing data de-dupe Netbackup appliances including policy setup providing faster restore times
  • Managed and Implemented multiple datacenter transformation projects to deliver state-of-the-art facilities, greener IT and enhanced disaster recovery
  • Member of project team which successfully implemented the mandatory Infrastructure and business controls to achieve PCI-DSS compliance status with the customers bank

  • Designed and Implemented Blackberry Enterprise server into existing Exchange environment which included the provision of handheld devices and enterprise activation
  • Implemented VMware Site Recovery Manager to provide DR and Business Continuity facilities between HQ and DR Site providing reduced RTO and RPO utilising vSphere array based replication.
