Receiver for Win 8/RT Preview Update Goes Live

If you have installed the preview version of  Citrix Receiver from the Windows Store, you have likely already been notified of the update. If you installed the very first Preview version, you might not be notified but can  Click here to install the Preview update. Before trying the Preview, you should ask your IT department if it can be used in your environment.  The Preview version let you access enterprise files, applications, and desktops if Access Gateway Enterprise Edition and StoreFront have been deployed.

The Preview update adds the ability to connect to Web Interface PNA Services Sites internally but not externally.  (External access will come with the full product releases in February!)

In addition, the Preview update adds some key new features that users and administrators have been requesting.:

  • Secure access to Web and SaaS apps (requires CloudGateway Enterprise)
  • Account configuration using your email address, a server URL, or a provisioning file
  • Auto-provisioned applications
  • Automatic display of the keyboard when needed
  • Use of native controls for selecting an item from a list

What is coming in February

We are working as hard as we can to enable access to more Citrix configurations.   We know that many users have purchased new Microsoft Surface tablets and found they can not use them to reach there Citrix applications where StoreFront has yet to be deployed. We’ll be enabling remote access to Citrix sites that use PNA Services Sites and Access Gateway Enterprise servers. Many customers use this method for IOS and Android users. We’ll also enable Receiver to open ICA files, which will help other users in some situations. We have this and more coming!

Please, keep the great feedback coming and we look forward to sharing the official Receiver for Win 8/RT release in February.
